Affordable Care Act and MEC
The Affordable Care Act was signed into law on March 23, 2010 and the Supreme Court upheld the law in a challenge case in June 28, 2012.
Every citizen in the U.S. is and has been effected by the Health Insurance legislation. Many have coverage now they were not able to obtain prior to the law. That law created a minimum level of benefits that must be covered in order for the consume purchasing the coverage could avoid a penalty for not having such benefits. These benefits are listed below and are included in the Aliera Healthcare plans.
What are Mininimum Essential Benefits?
Essential Health Benefits will include the following 10 general categories:
• Ambulatory patient services
• Emergency services
• Hospitalization
• Mental health and substance abuse disorders/behavioral health treatment
• Maternity and newborn care
• Prescription drugs
• Rehabilitative and habilitative services/devices
• Laboratory services
• Preventive and wellness services, and chronic disease management
• Pediatric services, including oral and vision care
You may add additional coverage should your personal situation need but these are the basic benefits all insurance must contain.
